The Border Guard (国境警備隊, Kokkyou Keibitai), localized as Border Patrol in Suikoden II, is an organization founded immediately after the establishment of the Toran Republic following the Gate Rune War.
Information
The former bandit Varkas was appointed as the commanding officer of this new order following the Gate Rune War and the establishment of the Toran Republic.
During the Dunan Unification War, that meant that Varkas was the commander of the border guards stationed at the border between the Toran Republic and City-State of Jowston.
When the leader of the New State Army attempted to travel to Gregminster, Varkas would insist on escorting him in his capacity as commander.
