Griffith was appointed the commanding officer of the Northern Checkpoint during the Gate Rune War, to protect Moravia from the south. As an officer of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Griffith always posed as a slippery person but in actuality, he cared for the lives of his troops more than his own pride.
His airy demeanor covered his more serious and responsible attitude towards his men. This trait was exploited by the Toran Liberation Army in their attack on the Northern Checkpoint as Griffith quickly agreed to surrender in exchange for the lives of his men.
Following his surrender, Griffith joined the Liberation Army and aided the rescue of Warren from Moravia. For the remainder of the war, he fought bravely in the Former Imperial Soldiers unit was often seen in the company of his fellow former imperials at Toran Castle. His swords were painted black, which added an extra layer of intimidation to the man in battle.
He would state he had no problem joining the Liberation Army as they were more likely to win the war, saying he preferred to side with the strong. However, it seems he may have said this out of embarrassment of his swift defeat at the Northern Checkpoint.
After the war, he refused to join the nascent Toran Republican Army and instead started a business, the talents that allowed him to lead his men so well being applicable to more than just warfare.
Despite changing sides in the war, Griffith still remains a subordinate of Kasim Hazil in the Former Imperial Soldiers unit following Kasim's recruitment.
