Hanzo (ハンゾウ, Hanzō) is a minor character in Suikoden and Suikoden II. Hanzo is the leader of the ninjas of Rokkaku Hamlet.
History

Hanzo was the leader of the skilled ninjas of Rokkaku Hamlet and was well regarded for his ability and insight. As a ninja he was skilled not only in espionage but at uncovering deception and seeing the hidden truth in people, making him talented in judging others. He had become chief in the traditional manner, being selected as Vice-Chief by the previous incumbent due to his ability and succeeding them after their passing.
During the Gate Rune War, Rokkaku resisted imperial rule but was attacked by and fell to Teo McDohl's Armored Cavalry, bringing it under the control of the Scarlet Moon Empire. Hanzo helped Kasumi escape the carnage, and ordered her to tell the Toran Liberation Army of what had happened.
Following the last battle, Hanzo appeared before McDohl, introducing himself and admitting he and the other surviving ninjas had hid after the fall of Rokkaku, biding their time. Kasumi was surprised at Hanzo's survival, and Hanzo apologized to her for having to keep it a secret. He would assist the Liberation Army during the invasion and securing of Gregminster Palace.
Following the Toran Liberation War, Hanzo welcomed Kasumi back to Rokkaku and eventually appointed her as Vice-Chief of Rokkaku, recognizing her potential as a ninja and leader. He would also receive Fuma, who had left the village previously. Over the next three years, he would devote himself to the restoration of the village.
During the Dunan Unification War, meeting with the hero, he recognized the same look in his eyes as McDohl, who had led the Liberation Army to victory three years prior and judged him a worthy ally. He bequeathed his subordinates Sasuke and Mondo to the New State Army as part of their alliance with the Toran Republic.

Trivia
- Hanzo is named after the famed Sengoku era ninja, Hattori Hanzō. He was the head of a clan from Iga, and served Tokugawa Iyeasu loyally. Hattori Hanzo is also commonly depicted in manga and other forms of fiction.
