South Window City (サウスウィンドゥ市 Sausu Windou Shi) is a location which appears in Suikoden II. It is a historical city which lies to the south of Lake Dunan.

Information

South Window City is the principal city of South Window Principality. It is one of the oldest cities in Dunan and was once the capital of the Dunan Monarchy. As such, it was usually treated with a measure of respect within the City-State of Jowston. Its current mayoral system was established following the civil war that saw the Dunan Monarchy collapse in SY 252.

Its main industries are tourism and commerce, with the city crowded year-round by tourists and traders. The carefully cultivated bonsai have become something of a feature of the city and the plaza outside the city hall is open for the peace and relaxation of its citizens.

Six months after the destruction of North Window, South Window City would receive a zombie head from Two River City, claiming to be under the influence of Neclord and pushing the two city-states to the brink of war. However, it would be revealed that the message accompanying the head would be a forgery, commissioned by Kou Long and his compatriots to spark a war and make a profit in the arms trade. The plot uncovered; tensions would quickly resolve.

During the Dunan Unification War, the city suffered many attacks from the Highland Kingdom and was occupied for a time. Following the war, however, South Window has followed a path of steady recovery.

Music

Nahala Yam Koong

South Window City's theme in Suikoden II is the song "Nahala Yam Koong", which is song 10 on disc 2 of box 1 of the Genso Suikoden II Original Game Soundtrack. The track's title seemingly derives from Arabic, mostly likely the phrase "نهلهجان‎كن", meaning "I will be happy".
