Kun To (クン・トー, Kun Tō) is a supporting character in Suikoden. A sea-faring merchant and trader, Kun To transported the Fire Spear from Kirov to Toran Castle for the Toran Liberation Army.
History
|
Kun To was a highly regarded merchant residing in Kirov, known for his thriving trade ventures. He earned the affectionate moniker "Boss" in the town due to his benevolent nature. While engaged in legitimate business through trade, Kun To also dabbled in smuggling and other illicit activities.
However, during the Gate Rune War, the efforts of the Scarlet Moon Empire to crack down on such illegal activities limited Kun To's involvement in such ventures. Despite this setback, his combined experience in both legitimate and underground dealings garnered him considerable wealth over the years.
When his old friend, Tai Ho, a member of the Toran Liberation Army, arrived in Kirov seeking assistance to smuggle Fire Spears from the Secret Factory to Toran Castle, Kun To readily decided to join the cause. He saw this as an opportunity to support the Liberation Army and play a pivotal role in their endeavors. He would spend his time at Toran Castle with fellow wealthy merchants, Warren and Lepant.
Following the conclusion of the war, Kun To assumed the leadership of the Merchant's Guild within the newly established Toran Republic. In this position, he wielded significant influence, and some speculate that his true motivation for supporting the Liberation Army was to gain power within the new republic.
Moreover, Kun To continued to assist his friend Tai Ho, this time by offering him employment and aiding his escape from his wife, Kimberly. He facilitated Tai Ho's journey to the City-State of Jowston, ensuring the continuation of their enduring friendship and mutual support.
