Gengen (ゲンゲン, Gengen) is a character in Suikoden II. Gengen is a kobold warrior who fought in the Dunan Unification War.
History
|
Gengen is a soldier from Kobold Village. His stated goal in life was to become a "great warrior". He began as a mercenary in a group based near his village before joining Viktor's mercenaries
Although he still had quite a way to go as a warrior, his inherent brightness was found to be calming and he became something of a familiar mascot for the Mercenary Fortress. He was especially popular with children, such as Gabocha and Tuta. He seemed to like the well at the fortress and could often be found peering into it.
Following the defeat of Viktor's mercenaries, Gengen, along with other survivors of the attack, became a member of the New State Army, where he served as an Infantry Captain during the Dunan Unification War. As a captain, he was not a very stern commander, but his passion to encourage and protect everyone under his charged shined through.
Although he spoke simply, many kobolds found his work ethic inspirational and worked hard to follow in his footsteps, not just Gabocha. He wielded an ordinary sword that he was nonetheless proud of, as reflected in the names he gave it.
Following the war, Gengen remained a soldier, becoming a captain of the Dunan Republican Army, coming closer to his goal of being a truly great warrior.
