Louis Keeferson (ルイス・キフアーソン, Ruisu Kifuāson) is a supporting character in Suikoden III. Louis is a Zexen Knight apprentice and the squire of Chris Lightfellow.
History

Louis was a boy training to be a Zexen Knight and assisting as Chris Lightfellow's squire. He was the youngest of seven children and despite being part of an aristocratic family, his large number of siblings made him unlikely to inherit. As such, he was trained in chivalry and manners as a knight's apprentice.
His father was a friend of Wyatt Lightfellow and the family had helped Chris following the loss of her father, so Louis was especially assigned to Chris' care and training on her request. Due to his age, Louis was not allowed to fight in battle. What he learned from Chris as an attendant were manners and chivalry. Louis was very devoted to Lady Chris and his devotion touched her heart in turn.
Though his mild-mannered and gentle personality made him well-liked and a soothing presence for the battle-fatigued knights, it also lent itself towards Louis being sub-par at swordsmanship. However, bearing his family's expectations, he continued to strive to improve himself and his courage and readiness to serve were certainly worthy of a knight candidate.
Despite his struggles Louis was determined to serve Chris as a squire should. When Chris attacked the Karaya Village at the outbreak of the War of the Champions, he vowed to protect Chris despite being extremely nervous about being on the battlefield himself. In fact, it is possible that his warning cry to Chris is what allowed her to deflect Lulu's attack on her.
Later, Chris would collapse in the Zexen Forest on the way to Vinay del Zexay, worrying Louis greatly. Taking Chris to Brass Castle, Louis would show his worry when she awoke, raising his voice, something very unusual for the polite youth. As a squire, he was well aware that it was impolite to speak his mind so but he did not want to see the knight he admired and respected hurt herself further.
Following the War of the Champions, Louis' efforts finally paid off as he was made a fully-fledged Zexen Knight.
