Profile
|
Appearance
Eike is a thin man with grey, pallid skin and bulging eyes with small, dark pupils shadowed by heavy brow ridges. He has no visible eyebrows. His cheekbones are extremely prominent and he had heavy bags under his eyes. His receding, black hair is slightly unkempt, but kept in an approximation of a neat hairstyle.
He wears a brown waistcoat vest and suit pants over a white, full-length shirt and bolo tie. He wears white gloves with black arm bracers and black shoes. He is not often seen without a book of some sort in his hand.
Personality
Although he appears to be gloomy and eerie, in reality Eike is a polite and helpful person. He is also a voracious reader who once he starts reading a book, loses track of time easily. Although he prefers solitude, he is never rude or dismissive of others. He simply prefers to indulge his preferences when possible.
He also holds odd sleeping habits. When remembering to sleep, Eike would sleep with his eyes half open without turning while speaking in a strange, non-existent language.
History
|
Eike was the resident librarian of Budehuc Castle. Harboring a great love of books, he frequently immersed himself in reading and would often lose track of time, disappearing into the castle basement to read in solitude.
One such venture to his reading room in the castle basement led the residents of Budehuc Castle to assume he was missing was being an extensive search for him.
When found, Eike apologized, explaining how easy it was for him to lose track of time when reading. The mystery of how Eike came to be in the basement before the elevator there was repaired remained a mystery, though the residents were mainly relieved to find their friend.
Later, when Geddoe and his team infiltrated Budehuc Castle, they were discovered by Eike. Somehow he was able to surprise the group, despite their being professional mercenaries. He was also unfazed by having weapons drawn on him by Ace, who suspected him of being no ordinary man.
Although he didn't speak much on the matter, he was also a supporter of Thomas as castle lord and stood with him against the efforts of the Zexen Council to remove the young lord.
Eike's talents as a librarian were notable as he was able to find old documents relating to the history of the castle when needed and it was he who first realized the connection between Geddoe and the man who had been present at the negotiations surrounding Budehuc Castle some 50 years prior.
Following the War of the Champions, Eike continued to lead his Silent Reading Society, holding meetings in the deep basement of the castle.
