Soledt (ソレツド, Soretsudo) is a character mentioned in Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 3. He was a historical Harmonian strategist known as "The Blind Strategist."
History
Soledt, once a skilled warrior, lost the ability to wield a sword or ride a horse after a devastating battle where his lord and family were killed, and he was blinded. Despite these setbacks, he vowed revenge.
Over the years, he honed his intelligence as a weapon and aimed to reclaim his lord’s stolen land. With his two younger brothers as generals, he gathered 200 soldiers to face 1,500 bandits who had taken over the village.
Though outnumbered, Soledt used his intimate knowledge of the terrain to his advantage. Scouted the area extensively and studying the weather, he crafted a meticulous plan.
On a stormy evening, he launched his attack. Dividing his troops, he sent one group to stage a surprise attack on the village, drawing the bandits into a mountain valley. When the bandits pursued, Soledt sprung his trap.
Recalling a dam he had constructed years before, he ordered it destroyed, triggering a massive landslide that buried the bandits and blocked their retreat. With the bandits in disarray, Soledt pressed his advantage, launching relentless attacks on the survivors and securing victory.
Returning to the village, Soledt's strategy ensured that 180 of the 200 soldiers who fought alongside him had survived. Despite his blindness, his strategy and resolve led him to triumph against overwhelming odds.
Soledt was then recruited into the Harmonian Central Army. After peace came to Harmonia, he retired from his position as a strategist and opened a school in Crystal Valley where he passed down his knowledge. The motto of his school would come to be "knowledge is power."
His tale would be recorded in the Heroes of Harmonia chronicle and would years later inspire Klaus Windamier to pursue military strategy as a career.
