Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 4 (幻想水滸伝 短編集4, Gensōsuikoden Tanhenshū 4) is a book published by Kadokawa Shoten in 2002.
It is a selection of short stories that deals with characters and events from Suikoden and Suikoden II.
Content
The collection features six text-stories as well as one short manga feature, with a variety of writers and artists.
In terms of connection to Suikoden II, Return ~Cursed Guns~ is the most direct, depicting the last three steps of Clive's hunt for Elza in the game and ending with their climatic duel in Sajah Village.
Star Chaser has the most connection with Suikoden, being set at Toran Castle in the immediate aftermath of the Gate Rune War and expanding Sheena's reason for leaving. Killer and Burning Iron Fist, meanwhile, build upon Genshu and Zamza's backstories.
Lavender Village Murder Case and Under the Mask on the other hand focus more on strengthening existing characterization for the characters involved, although the former also involves itself in the Scarlet Moon and Jowston conflicts of the past.
Iwama Junko's Genso Suikoden 4koma Theater contains the only Suikoden III references in the book, with two 4koma about Hugo specifically.
