December 20, 2001Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 3 (幻想水滸伝 短編集３, Gensōsuikoden Tanhenshū 3) is a book published by Kadokawa Shoten in 2001.
It is a selection of short stories that deals with characters and events from Suikoden II.
Content
The collection features six text-stories as well as one short manga feature, with a variety of writers and artists.
In terms of connection to Suikoden II, Indelible Footprints shows when Nanami received directions from Templeton in a scene mentioned by not depicted in the game itself. Battle to the Death on Black Dragon Island depicts and expands on Hai Yo's escape from Black Dragon Island and what happened to Shun Min.
Critical Point has the strongest connection to the game itself, expanding in detail on the peripheral backstory given to Luca Blight and the tragedy of his mother, Sara that is obliquely referenced in the game.
Other stories detail elements of the character's backstories, such as how Kinnison met Shiro, how Klaus became a military strategist or strengthen their characterization, such as in Emblem of the Oath for Camus and Miklotov.
