Anastasia (アナスタシア, Anasutashia) is a character from Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 3. She was an elderly woman living in a border village between the Highland Kingdom and Matilda Knightdom.

History

Anastasia was a woman born in a border village between the Highland Kingdom and Matilda Knightdom. Her hair, the color of dead leaves mixed with gray, was tied up very simply, and the only decoration on her clothes was a scarf around her shoulders.

As such, over the years she had witnessed many battles and the repeated destruction of her village. Because of this, she had become very bitter towards both forces, whom she viewed as freely abandoning the village only to return to attack its new occupiers.

Still, she remember a knight from her youth who refused to abandon the village and helped the village resist a Highland force. Even after failing, this knight offered up his life to protect the villagers who fought alongside him.

Hearing that Miklotov and Camus had come to the village of their own volition, she would agree to help them as they infiltrated the village, hiding their uniforms. Later, when Gorudo sent a force to torch the village, Anastasia would help free Camus and Miklotov's panicking horses from the stables.

She would then suddenly turn to return to her burning home and was crushed when it collapsed. Before dying, she revealed she went back to try and retrieve the knight's uniforms and emblems, knowing how important they were to the two.
