A trickster (からくり師, karakuri-shi) is a vocation in the Suikoden series. Several characters in the series have identified as tricksters or have had trickster-like trappings.

Information

Tricksters are people who use the power of alchemy, sometimes combined with the use of runes, to create and breathe life into various contraptions.

From simple tools to aid people in daily life to robots able to think and act on their own, a skilled trickster can create many different things. This ability may be tied into use of the Gadget Rune, though the details are not well known.

They also tend to be worldly. Tricksters such as Meg and Juppo have both travelled the world, searching for new techniques and experiences. Juppo would create the robot Gadget following the Gate Rune War and it would be rebuilt by Meg into Gadget Z prior to the War of the Champions.
